This Mizuno shoe certainly does not feel overweight. Rider 24 is lighter, but not feather-light The harder rubber was holding up much better, but premature wear is never a good sign overall. However, we started to see wear on the softer blown rubber in the midfoot after only 30 miles. Given the amount of rubber on the outsole, the Rider 24 certainly looks durable. However, this time around, the brand came up with a much better visual appeal and colour choices. We've got zero complaints as the airflow kept our feet nice and fresh. However, that nice kick only works if you’re a heel striker. The Wave Rider 24 has seen a great improvement in the heel - there’s a bounce now! It’s springy and you can feel the propulsion. Keep in mind that it wasn’t built with short and fast runs in mind, so it's better to skip doing speedwork in it. Obviously, it’s best for easy runs given its construction. The Mizuno Wave Rider 24 is a daily trainer. Mizuno Wave Rider 24 is NOT your fast shoe The heel doesn’t slip and the upper creates a nice wrap around the foot. Wave Rider 23 features a dual compound midsole using U4ic. Lightweight and breathable mesh upper offers controlled temperatures and top unwavering performance. The Wave Rider 23s Mizuno Wave cushioning technology provides ultra soft comfort in a super secure fit. We found the shoe's fit to be spot-on true-to-size. Shaft measures approximately low-top from arch. Having tested the shoe on light trails, wet pavement, gravel paths, grass, and asphalt, we have absolutely no complaints. This shoe grips everything in sight with its premium outsole traction. It felt like we were doing something wrong.Ĭlearly, the shoe's 12 mm drop favours heel strikers!īe mindful of the heel drop and, if you’re making a big transition (~4mm), think of an adaptation period. We never had to think about our strides.īut on the other hand, when we tried switching to the forefoot/midfoot strike, the ride started to feel odd and inconsistent. Landing on the heels, the Rider 24 felt surprisingly soft and smooth. Its outsole is made of 2 different types of rubber allows for lots of flex in the forefoot. To add to that softness, the Wave Rider 24 also flexes. After all, being soft is not a usual Mizuno trait. However, Rider 24 is noticeably softer than previous versions. When Mizuno says something is soft, it usually means it’s undeniably firm.
